Chimney Sweeping and Inspections
I use state-of-the-art equipment to inspect and sweep 1st- and 2nd-story residential chimneys venting open wood burning fireplaces, wood stoves, and oil burners. While sweeping your system, I conduct an NFPA Level I visual inspection to ensure that it's in working order. An NFPA Level I inspection includes general appliance and chimney condition, whether the chimney is lined, clearances to combustibles, and cleanliness of the system. I look for any problems that need attention and recommend what is needed for your system to burn properly and efficiently. While working in your home, I use drop clothes to protect floors in areas where I will be working and vacuums with HEPA filtration systems for dust control.
NFPA Level II Inspections
An NFPA Level II inspection is more detailed than the Level I. A Level II inspection includes a Level I inspection plus an internal video inspection of the chimney liner, and inspection of the chimney condition in attics and crawl spaces. In order to assess the condition of the chimney liner, I use video inspection equipment to view hidden parts of the flue and to examine individual mortar joints and seems. The NFPA recommends a Level II inspection when there has been an evident system malfunction, a chimney fire, change in the use of the chimney, when purchasing a home, and when re-lining a chimney.
Chimney Caps/ Animal Guards
